William Guilford
Professor
William Guilford is Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia. He is also director of the undergraduate program in Biomedical Engineering, and director of the Beckman Scholars program at UVA.
William Guilford's Bio:
William Guilford's research focuses on the load-dependent kinetics of receptor-ligand bonds, regulation of contractile function by S-nitrosylation, and the function and regulation of motors in living cells He also engages in surgical instrument design and education research, including predictors of success and persistence in engineering.
William Guilford's teaching currently includes Cell and Molecular Biology for Engineers, Biomaterials, and Introduction to Engineering.
William Guilford's administrative responsibilities include running the undergraduate degree program of approximately 210 majors in Biomedical Engineering as program director. He co-founded the new undergraduate program in Nanomedicine Engineering. He also lead department's educational assessments and spearheaded our successful ABET accreditation bids in 2007 and 2010.
